Ghanaians celebrate Nkrumah on Founder’s Day

S c r o l l D o w n

Ghanaians across the world have marked Founder’s Day to celebrate the birth, work and life of the country’s first president, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

Several activities were held in Ghana’s capital Accra by Nkrumahist groups to celebrate the man voted by BBC listeners in Africa as the continent’s ‘Man of the Millenium.’

The Founder’s Day is marked this and every year on September 21 despite plans by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make it Founders’ Day.

But Nkrumahist groups, including the Convention People’s Party (CPP) and People’s National Convention (PNC) have served notice they will resist every attempt by the government to rewrite the history of the country.
